"Swing to the music of the Great American Songbook with a
sprinkling of Motown and Funky New Orleans..."
Louisiana sax man, Jeremy Davis, relocated to Savannah in September
of 2005. As the leader of the 20 piece Equinox Jazz Orchestra,
Jeremy has headlined theaters, festivals and music venues all
across the Country. Jeremy's work as the President of the
Friends of Johnny Mercer allows him to pursue his passion for the
great American songbook, tradition jazz standards and jazz
education. He has shared the stage with artist ranging from David
Sanborn, Ellis Marsalis, Bill Watrous, Carl Fontana, Fred Wesley
and Harry Waters to George Clinton, Govt Mule, Col. Bruce Hampton,
Derek Trucks and many more. Heavily influenced by Art Pepper, Sonny
Rollins, Stan Getz, Stanley Turrentine, Jimmy Smith and Miles Davis
his Equinox Jazz small combos have been equally well received in
Savannah and up and down the East Coast.
As a long-standing member of the Savannah Jazz Orchestra and
frequent performer at regional venues such as The Jazz Corner,
Kokopellis, The Mansion, Adagio, and Hannah's, Kirk has
shared the stage with Jazz Greats including Jimmy Heath, Benny
Golson, Clark Terry, Ben Tucker, Claudio Roditti, Bobby Watson, Bob
Berg, and Wycleff Gordon. He is called on regularly for both the
high energy lead work required in Big Band and Latin ensembles as
well as the more intimate flugelhorn and straight ahead approach
appropriate to the club and event setting.
