Tracy Newman was a TV writer/producer (Cheers, The Nanny, Ellen, Drew Carey, According to Jim), and now she's a full-time singer/songwriter. Tracy grew up in LA. After high school, she wanted to be a folksinger, but her parents insisted that she go to college. She went to the U of A in Tucson and quickly got in with the folk crowd. She stopped attending college and played on street corners for money. Understandably, this freaked out her mother who dragged her back to LA for "help".
